Volunteer Schedule as of July 16, 2011
Swim Team is a very labor-intensive sport. Without parent volunteers, it would be impossible to run a meet. That is why we must require that each family work 5 half meets (out of a possible 6 whole meets). Many of our swim team parents choose to volunteer more than that requirement.
Click here for a list of volunteer descriptions. If you are pre-registering, use this link to help you choose what you’d like to do. First come, first served!
Please note, Relay Parent is no longer a volunteer position and will be covered by older swimmers, beginning in 2010.
Concessions
There are many expenses involved with running a Swim Team. Some of these include registration fees to GRAL, insurance, coaches’ salaries, meet supplies (paper, etc.), equipment (timer watches, kickboards, etc.), among others. A good deal of our revenue comes from the money we make at the concessions stand at every home meet. Without this revenue, we would be forced to raise fees and hold more fundraisers. To this end, we do require that each family bring an item for the concessions stand each home meet.
At formal registration you have the option to choose the type of item you would like to bring. Prior to each meet, a notice is sent out reminding each family of what they are to provide (the list will also be posted below). This particular item must be brought to the concessions stand prior to meet start to receive a ticket. Failure to bring an item could result in your child not swimming in that meet; your child will need to produce the ticket to receive the card that tells him/her what s/he is swimming. Even if you will not be at a particular meet, you are still required to provide an item. Lucy Perkins is our Concessions Head and her phone number is 559-4636. If you are providing a fruit item (including canned), please bring that item to practice on the morning the DAY BEFORE the meet, or to Lucy Perkins’ House at 6060 Havenview on the DAY BEFORE the meet so that the concessions team can prepare it.
